The name's Despain. And before you ask, it comes from an old character of mine named Derek Despain. And no, it's not my real name. that'd be Jason. But Despain will suffice.

I signed up here because Wumpi likes the place, and she's one of my closest and best internet friends, if not the. I draw a lot, too, and write, as well as other creative things, so I'll fit right in, I guess.

A little warning for all of you, though. I am NOT an anime fan. "Oh my god, what did he say?" That's right. I'll watch a show or movie, and I have my favorites, but I don't like anime just because it's anime. So if you're looking for Kenshin or Inuyasha or whatever fanart, look elsewhere (though if I'm in the right mood there's a chance you'll catch some DBZ or Pok�mon).

Speaking of that, I developed the anime style many years ago and I'm in the process of working to kick it and develop something more original. I'm looking at a lot of Bruce Timm- you know, the guy who does the Batman and Justice League animated series. I'm a pretty big DC fan, too, so expect plenty of Superman and Batman stuff as I work my way from "anime-fanboy" style to something more original and reminiscent of American comic art. I'm also looking into more vivid cutesy cartoony stuff to further break from generic anime. Mostly, I want to find something to fit me that doesn't look like everybody else out there.
